Apple getting Lawsuit Crazy?

Here’s the link to one of the news articles.
HTC Android Phones Are Being Banned from the US Next Year

The “copyright infringement” stems from the ability to click an address, email address, web address etc from inside a message and it perform the correct response. If it’s an address some mapping software will open up with that address already input, or if it’s a phone number it will call that person etc.

I do not see how this is copyright infringement. This seems to me like it’s a common item to be included in phones. That would be like Microsoft suing others over the use of hyperlinks. Or Ford suing others for including a steering wheel in their cars. Or Herman Melville suing anyone that writes another book about a whale. So my question is this, Is Apple taking a page from Mircosoft’s playbook? Instead of competing with their competition are they going to sue they away? Microsoft has done this many many times.

Microsoft sued Lindows over their name, then when Lindows changed to Linspire(a Liniux based OS with an easy to use GUI) Microsoft threanted Tiger Direct(and who knows who else). They told them if they sold Linspire they would stop allowing them to sell Windows.

Another instance is the issue with Open Office. Microsoft changed the way their MS Office files were saved and renamed the file extension .docx etc. There was no reason for this but to keep Open Office from being able to open their files. After a lawsuit the Judge ruled that Microsoft had to tell Open Office how they save their files.

But in this case the Judge made the wrong decision in my opinion. This case sounds like something The Onion(a fake news website) would come up with .

Do you think they were right in this? Because I sure don’t.

Hoping for a Cancer-Free World

With so many cases of cancer diagnosed each year, I am really all for continuing and even increasing the research done to find a cure for this horrendous disease. I hope that the cure can come before Sawyer is old enough to be at risk for such an illness. I hope that he never has to deal with the difficult, draining treatments that are currently available for cancer. I have seen others go through it, and while I am grateful that chemo and other options are available, it still takes a great toll on the affected person’s body.

I also want a cure ASAP because I don’t want him to suffer the loss of loved ones or friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. I hope he never has to feel the pain of losing someone in that way. To know they are terminally-ill and will not be able to recover. Cancer comes in many different kinds, and it is one of the most infamous killers of humans these days. I applaud The American Cancer Society for the work they are doing to increase the number of birthdays that cancer patients (as well as survivors) can enjoy.
